Guests rarely mention a perfect clean, but they always mention a bad one. A clear, consistent turnover checklist is how you make every arrival feel the same: fresh, calm and ready.

Share a version of this with your cleaners and ask for a few photos at the end of each clean. It protects them as much as it protects you.

Every turnover

  • Fresh linens and towels, with beds made the same way every time
  • Kitchen wiped down, dishes put away, fridge emptied of guest food
  • Bathrooms cleaned, with toilet paper, soap and shampoo restocked
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped, rugs straightened
  • Trash and recycling out, bins lined
  • Thermostat, lights and blinds reset to your arrival settings
  • Welcome note and Wi-Fi card in place
  • Photos of each room sent to you or your assistant

Monthly

  • Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Deep clean the oven, fridge and under furniture
  • Check for wear: chipped dishes, stained linens, loose fixtures
  • Restock deep-storage supplies before they run out

Make it easy to follow

  1. Go room by room. Order the list the way a cleaner moves through the home.
  2. Show, don't tell. A photo of a correctly made bed or a staged kitchen counter beats a paragraph of instructions.
  3. Keep a "found and fixed" note. Ask cleaners to note anything broken, missing or low, so it gets handled before the next guest.
